Ali Khouiss Principal Trainer - Khouiss Racing Stables

Ali starts Queensland campaign with a strong double

Well it’s that time of year again when Ali Khouiss takes a team of horses up to Queensland and wins a heap of races. Last time Ali went up, he won dozens of races on all the main Queensland tracks including Albion Park, Gold Coast and Redcliffe. This trip should be the same, with Ali taking up thirteen horses, many of them new and just starting out campaigns. The winners have already started with a double today by Styx Lover and Thunderbolt Cruiser on the Gold Coast, both horse winning easily and this should be a warning to the local Queensland trainers that Ali means business.

Ali expects to stay about 10 weeks in Queensland, enjoying the wonderful climate but will still commute between there and Sydney on occasions that require his presence back home. As always Ali was the first person to acknowledge the tremendous effort of all his many staff workers, who are the backbone behind the organization. You can’t consistently win hundreds of races each year without a lot of dedicated specialists all working together for the one thing.

Ali suggests you keep reading this page regularly to see which horses are going extra well or are well placed and have outstanding prospects. Having said that, the thing that Ali prides himself on is that ‘Every Horse is Always trying’, so realistically you should back every starter on an each way basis and you are bound to end up on the right side of the ledger.

Don’t forget that if you want to become a part of this fabulous racing team, send an e-mail via the Contact page or if you just want to send congratulatory messages to Ali whilst he is away plundering the spoils that our northern state has to offer. Any person who is a friend of Ali’s and wants a website designed for them, like this one, can send an e-mail and receive a very special price.

Ali set to get back in the winner’s circle.

Top stable racehorse Mark Joseph will be contesting a heat of the Sire Stake on Friday night at Harold Park with the intended aim being the $100,000.00 final at Menangle. The first five placings in the heat will progress into the final and this would be a fitting and deserved result for the great horse. Ali told me that he is primed and ready to run boldly first up and will strip a lot fitter for the final.

Three days later at Bankstown Paceway at a Monday afternoon meeting, Ali will saddle up no less than 5 horses and a smorgasbord of winners is what we are hoping for, the runners will be as follows:

Our Crown Law (First start in Australia)
Cairn Eddie Go
Hidden Ability
Thunderbolt Cruiser
Franco Torro

Each horse has an undeniable chance and if having a bet, take the safe route and back every horse on an each way basis.

Khouiss Racing Stables still on a roll

What a sensational month for Khouiss Racing Stables, the entire year of 2008 so far has been outstanding at insiders at KRS have reason to be very optimistic in the future because many things are about to happen.

Just recapping some of the highlights of the last few weeks, especially that important meeting at Bankstown which hosted the two premier events in the Schweppes Cup and the Carousel Final. On that night we presented 5 horses to the meeting for 2 wins, 2 seconds and 1 third, which was an amazing effort and one of the seconds was by a nose but most people on course thought we won the race, it’s a tricky angle at Bankstown and caught many of us out.

The runners were Franco Torro who one brilliantly, there are many more wins in store for this good type. Cairn Eddie go also won and continued his recent good form. Village lord ran second and will pick up a race soon. Thunderbolt Cruiser is the horse than ran the very close nose second, follow this classy horse who won’t disappoint you. Mark Joseph ran third in his race beaten a small distance.

Mark Joseph also won the prestigious Simpson Memorial a top 3 year old classic for the best three year olds around. MJ ran a blistering last half to win in 56.8, this is an amazingly ‘hot’ sectional and he did it easily and wouldn’t have blown a candle out on returning back to the stables. MJ is close to being one of the best horses in the stable and if he continues to deliver as expected will be a force for many years to come.

Speaking of stable stars, Our Braham Boy has been back in work for three weeks and is thriving, expect the old boy to have another rewarding campaign in top company, make sure you never count him out, his heart is massive and no need to ask about his courage.

KRS will be attempting to win the NSW Derby next week and then heads off to Queensland for the Derby up there, stay tuned to the race guides, we will be trying with every runner, every time we go around, just look at our amazing strike rate to confirm that.

Finally, we have just purchased two outstanding young prospects from new Zealand and are hoping to keep the standard of horse and results at the dizzyingly high level its currently at, a tall order but that is what KRS is all about, racing to win!!!

‘Ali Khouiss’ the King of Queensland

There is absolutely no doubt that master trainer Ali Khouiss bathed himself in glory in his recent five and a half week working visit to Queensland. Based on the Gold Coast, Ali took a team of eight horses and every horse won races providing Ali with exceptional figures which would rival that of trainers with million dollar budgets.

Ali took 8 horses away, and raced 34 times for a staggering 17 wins and 10 minor placings, a strike rate that is worthy of high praise, seeing that the horses were a mixed lot covering several different grades. The races were primarily split between the gold Coast track and Albion Park and Ali had winners at prices from odds on through till better than twenty to one.

Queensland Harness racing officials were sad when Ali had to leave to return back to Bankstown to resume local training of his full team, and to say the future looks bright is an understatement. Congratulations Ali, you have done yourself, your stable and your State proud.

The ‘Ali Khouiss’ show just keeps rolling on.

We predicted that once the first horse won a race in Queensland that the floodgates would open and that is exactly what has happened. To say that Queensland has felt the full force of the Khouiss Racing Stables is somewhat an understatement, and there is still more to come.

By now all the many supporters and friends of KRS all know that we try every time and are always looking to ‘get the cash’, and when the stable fires like it is now, you would be simply crazy not to back every starter in every race. For example next Thursday we have 3 starters and the next night (Saturday Albion Park) another 4 starters.

Ali has trained the last 5 horses for 5 winners (100%) and you just can’t do better than that. The fiver winners were:

Thursday:

Franco Torro paying $1.90

Friday:

Our Shoaib 25/1 lead all the way in 1:58.0
Our Village Lord 6/1 also clocking 1:58.0
Scarecrow 14/1 recently claimed by Ali
Thunderboth Cruiser $1.40

If you would have placed $1.00 on all four starters in an all up, you would have won in excess of $2,000.00

Ali told me to pass on to all supporters that the entire stable is flying and there ‘WILL’ be more winners, so back them all.

MARK JOSEPH victorious at Albion Park

Top stable star, Mark Joseph driven masterly by champion drive Josh Willick, recorded a sterling win at Albion Park today after sitting in the death seat for most of the race.

Defeating Double Daze and Rich Heritage and paying $4.50 on the Queensland Uni Tab but only $3.70 on the NSW Tab, the win was more than welcome after a couple of heartbreaking seconds by a lip, last week. Now that Ali has fired off his first successful shot, you can expect the floodgates to open and an avalanche of winners over the next few weeks.

Ali off to Queensland to grab a few victories

Ali leaves tomorrow for Queensland, no not for the sunshine, but to grab a few of the dollars on offer at tracks like Albion Park, the Gold Coast and perhaps even Redcliffe. Ali has resumed from the debilitating EI epidemic already clocking up winners at Newcastle and Penrith and will be possibly the first NSW trainer to actually take horses north by special permit from the Department of Primary Industry, who control equine movement within our state.

Tipped by many as potentially Ali’s best ever season the team of horses at the Khouiss Racing Establishment is crammed full of quality and providing they stay sound and racing continues to the point that it fully recovers everywhere, there is no reason why we can’t all be rolling in money by the end of this year. Stay tuned to this page for regular updates on how the team are progressing.

Ali Khouiss doing his bit to save the industry.

In a time when may trainers have taken extended leave or simply given up and left the industry, Ali Khouiss stands out as a beacon of light leading the recovery through his example of supporting his local club. Ali is determined to continue training despite unprecedented hardship and industry turmoil.

Tomorrow night Ali will send four horses around in the five races scheduled for the closed harness race meeting including two new stable additions. In the first race over 2140 metres from a mobile start at 6.32 pm, Valerian Pass has drawn the 1 barrier but in all honesty will need luck at this stage of his preparation. Having said that ‘Super’ reinsman Joshua Willick, the most winning driver since the EI epidemic struck, will take the drive, so that will definitely enhance the horses chances.

The next two starters will be in race 4 due to go at 8.00 pm over the mobile 2140 metres. The first stable starter Scarecrow will step out from barrier 1 and will be driven by Joshua Willick and whatever he does tomorrow night you can bet he will improve on over the following two weeks.

The second new stable horse is Cullen Tactics and it’s a shame that the two new horses are both drawn in the same race, but Ali decided to do that to support the industry and ensure the race stood up in these trying times. Cullen Tactics will start from barrier 7 and will be expertly driven by Glen Lobb. Ali mentioned this morning to me from the training track that he has an opinion of both these new horses and expects they will pay their way over the next couple of weeks.

They say you should always leave the best till last and that is what the handicappers have done tomorrow night, the final event, race 5 due to go at 8.30 pm which is also a mobile start over 2140 metres is actually a very good race by any measure. Stable champion Our Braham Boy is set a far easier assignment this week than last week when in an unsuitable event, plus the horse will be much fitter for the run.

Drawn the inside of the second row doesn’t help much but once again Joshua Willick will be onboard and if anyone can steer the Champ off the inside and put him in the race, it’s Josh. The race might be an uninteresting affair until the last 200 metres in the straight because Franco Nester the smart juvenile should hold the lead and set a moderate tempo from the 1 barrier with Our Braham Boy on his back, if we get the split early enough to come after him, we should be too strong on the line.

An alternative scenario could see Joshua Willick take the big horse off the rail sooner and opt to go and park in the death chair, and then pour the pressure on from the 500 metre mark and simply be too powerful and classy for the younger Derby contestant from last season. The race will be a beauty and as always, we need our fair share of luck but the thing you can always count on is that every horse will be doing their absolute best!

The Champ is Back!!!

You had to be at Bankstown today to see the tough run Our Braham Boy had and he still cruised past the opposition to record the easiest of wins. On a track that had suffered an enormous amount of rain the night before and during the day, most people thought the meeting would be called off.

Despite the elements being against him, OBB was virtually three wide the entire race, copped a terrific check in the back straight the last time around and yet still broke the spirit of the early leader Golden Goal on the home turn to cruise away recording the impressive last two quarters in 29.7 and 29.6, these are amazing times considering the state of the track and the many extra metres the horse covered by being three wide virtually throughout.

This was exactly the hard hit out the horse needed, you can’t have hard runs like that in track work and providing we can get a suitable race again soon, he will be even better and a lot fitter. The same old problem however, will a race for his grade standup?

Perfect Day – Disastrous Night

Sadly I have to inform you that Perfect day suffered a broken Pedal Bone and will be out for at least 6 months. It’s no secret that Ali had high expectations for this horse who is loaded with ability. Time is the only thing that can help him right now and we will just have to see how he comes back in 2008.

On a positive note Ali was rapt in the run of Our Braham Boy who looked gone on the home turned but dug deep to come again last Saturday night at Fairfield, it’s a shame he didn’t have a bit more racing but there are just not many races around for this grade of horse.

The really bright moment from the last round of racing is the emergence of our superstar youngster in Mark Joseph, you had to see his run to believe it and he was accurately clocked to run his last half at Harold Park in 57.4 this is outstanding for a 2 year old and Ali has instantly turned him out for a spell to let him mature more.

Every now and again a really special horse comes along and at this stage of his career Mark Joseph is easily the best youngster Ali has ever trained, watch for this fellow when he resumes racing after his well deserved spell.

Three BIG Days

We have a big three days coming up which might see Khouiss Racing Stables score winners on three successive days, starting on Thursday at Penrith 28th June, then off to Harold Park on Friday 29th and finishing off with Fairfield on Saturday 30th June. Once again the staff of KRS will be pushed to the limit getting horses ready for different venues over such a tight time frame, but we know they can do it because they have done it many times before.

The first runner is stable newcomer, My Broadway Melody who has drawn beautifully in Barrier 2, Race 6 and is resuming from a spell and will definitely be improved by this event. Until we can get a better idea under race conditions, it would be safe to limit this horse to a small each way chance.

The following night at Harold Park our star two year old, Mark Joseph has been dealt a devastating blow in drawing the worst possible barrier, outside the second row, number 11. Normally you would just forget tipping the horse but this bloke is very special and despite the terrible draw, could still win the $100,000.00 event with just a fair share of luck in running. We have no doubt that Mark Joseph is the best horse in the race, but having to come around the entire field, not knowing if the death seat will be there, the possibility of the leaders walking very slow sectionals, all makes his task just that much harder.

We then focus on Fairfield’s one race meeting of the year and we are determined to go close to a winning hat-trick on Saturday night. Starting with Our Shoaib who drew Barrier 6 in Race 4 over 2113 metres we should get off to the right start, the horse is going particularly well and is fit.

The next starter is in Race 6, from Barrier 5 and is the best of good things. Perfect Day will be very short odds but is just clearly too good for the meager lot up against him, anchor him in trifectas etc.

Finally our superstar Our Braham Boy will attempt to add the time honored J D Watts Memorial to his long list of lifetime credits. Because of race meetings being abandoned due to shocking Sydney weather plus unsuitable events for high quality horses, OBB has not had any recent racing but his private work has been first class and he is as fit as the training track can get him. It would have been better if he would have had a couple of lead up runs but nether the less, you would be crazy to ever count this bloke out, he is a true champion and will be the testing material in this classic event.

Mark Joseph in brilliant Harold Park Win

As predicted Mark Joseph unleashed a brilliant last quarter in 28.5 to break his opposition for a sterling and gutsy win at Harold Park last night. On a surprisingly good surface despite recent bad weather and the fact that ten races had already been run on the night, the race was a two year olds dream giving a very sound workout without knocking the bay colt around.

Starting favourite at $2.80, Joshua Willick drove the horse an absolute treat being caught three wide early and then worked to be outside the leader at the 1600 metre mark, he then pushed on to take the lead and from the bell to the finishing post was never headed despite a determined challenge by the second horse.

In the straight Mark Joseph showed his class by pulling away to win by 2 metres and score a very impressive win, his race time for the 2160 metres was 2:42.4 which gives a mile rate of 2:01:0 which is a pretty hand time by anyone’s reckoning. His last four quarters were 31:60, 31:90, 30:40 and 28.50 for a last half of 58.90 which is very handy to say the least.

This horse is a cut above most two year olds going around and should progress on to bigger and better races as his career unfolds, stick with ‘MJ’ for a prosperous journey.

Harold Park is the next mission

With the scratching of My Broadway Melody from Penrith tonight due to the horse catching a cold, all eyes turn towards Harold Park tomorrow Friday 22nd June, with stable stalwart Cairn Eddie Go drawing barrier 5 over 2160 metres in Race 1 at the earlier time of 5.25 pm, and once again to be driven by Joshua Willick. This robust horse who never stops trying is always a chance in a race of this nature, so a little each way might start the night off in the right direction.

We then have to wait till race 11 at 10.00 pm to see Mark Joseph go around over 2160 metres from barrier 4, also to be driven by master reinsman Joshua Willick, who has taken all before him since resuming after a layoff of a year. Mark Joseph is primed for a win and only needs an ounce of luck to run away with the spoils, watch for a bold showing.

Hot off the press, Ali has just announced a full blown assault on the Fairfield night meeting to be held on Saturday 30th, nominating 5 stable stars to go around including the triumphant Inter dominion campaigned champion Our Braham Boy, more details about the races and other stars will appear here soon.

Glasscutters Atom makes it a PERFECT DAY

Everywhere you look Ali Khouiss is training winners, in fact I have struggled to keep up with updates because it seems that everyday Ali lands at least one winner if not a double. I was sick for a week with a heavy dose of the flu and couldn’t make the news updates, but I can assure you that Ali just continues to grow in stature amongst his peers in all states of Australia.

Yesterday Glasscutters Atom toyed with his opposition at Bulli and shook off a nuisance challenge to stride away impressively to record yet another win. I have said it before, I would love to have a stable full of horses as honest as Glasscutters Atom.

Today at Harold Park Perfect Day easily accounted for inferior opposition to record yet another win, this horse is certainly destined for far greater wins than today’s but you can’t knock back any win these days, with so many good horses going around.

Franco Torro in $100,000.00 Final

Joshua Willick will take the drive this Saturday night at Albion Park from barrier 5, in the final of the KEVIN SEYMOUR NURSERY PACE FINAL, a $100,000.00 two year old feature race. In his biggest race since returning to harness racing, Josh expressed he had a few nerves but also declared that he is as ready as he will ever be and is looking forward to the race. Ali was over the moon with Franco Torro as he stormed into third place yesterday behind the outstanding Misty Plains who recorded five wins on the trot yesterday.

Barrier 5 will certainly be a lot better than coming from barrier 9 yesterday and having to circle the entire field. The run was full of merit and Franco will derive enormous benefit from the run and wasn’t knocked around in the straight. With natural improvement, greater fitness a better draw and the added extra bonus of $100,000.00 prizemoney, Joshua, Ali and Franco Torro will all be doing their very best.

The nominal favorite for the race will be Wayne Honan’s Flightpath who looked sensational winning his heat and is drawn inside Franco Torro, however big race finals are usually run far differently than heats and the luck in running will come into play and anything is possible. It is a tribute to the horse’s ability just to make the final, and once again we must remember that Ali and his team of dedicated professionals at Khouiss Racing Stables should be congratulated.

Whatever happens on Saturday night, one thing is for sure, Ali can find a good horse, is an excellent trainer and is prepared to travel wherever it takes to secure the right race for each horse.

Ali in winning Newcastle Double

In a major training triumph, Ali Khouiss scored a devastating winning double at Newcastle Paceway today. Both horses were driven by rejuvenated driver Joshua Willick, and both horses won in very impressive fashion.

The first leg of the winning double was a smart 2 year old bay colt, Mark Joseph, who amazingly got into trouble and lost a lot of ground early in the race, only to catch then up and career away recording a sensational 1.58 mile rate, essentially untouched. The sectionals were 28.1, 31.6, 29.0 and 29.2 for a last half in a sizzling 58.2, which is a smart time for a 2 year old. There will surely be many more victories in store for this perfectly gaited young colt.

The second winner came just 2 races later when Our Shoaib, a strapping 4 year old bay gelding closely related to the Champion Our Braham Boy, did just about everything wrong to record a solid win in 1.59.7, with sectionals of 29.9, 32.0, 29.2 and 28.5 for a very handy last half of 57.7.The horse was slowly away conceding considerable ground, then caught the field, spent a good deal of the race three wide getting around then, pushed on to the lead and bolted in hard held. There was a lot of horse left, Joshua Willick was overheard saying after returning to the stables.

The Khouiss Racing Stables also had another runner in the final event that had a lot of problems, named Lippy Lady. Ali has just confirmed that with a gear change he is confidant the horse will live up to the promise it shows and cautions punters not to let her go around without supporting her next time. A talent horse when right, and when the gear changes take effect, she should be saluting also.

Franco Enrico set for winning double

After the courageous win of Franco Enrico at Bankstown, Ali Khouiss has set the Live Or Die gelding for Harold Park this Tuesday in Race 4, at 3.20 pm over 2160 metres. To be driven by in form driver Joshua Willick from the poor outside the front row barrier draw of 7, Joshua will have to make some quick decisions on whether to come out or pull back and come around them.

Despite the poor barrier draw, the horse has done particularly well since Bankstown and should be even fitter than then. If the race is run to suit, expect a bold showing from this horse on the rise.

Franco Enrico outstays Six Of The Best

The winners just keep rolling in, today at Bankstown we had a superb staying effort in Franco Enrico who had the lead and was hammered for more than a lap by the race favorite, Six Of The Best driven by Greg Bennett. Franco Enrico was driven by Joshua Willick and the two drivers signaled their intention with a lap to go and pulled a long way ahead of the rest of the pack. It was going to be survival of the fittest as the two horses took each other on.

There was not a struck match between them on the home turn, but in the straight Franco Enrico started to pull away to win by a neck in a thrilling spectacle that was enjoyed by the large crowd in attendance at the Bankstown Paceway. Running the race in a 2.1.6 mile rate, the last two quarters were 30.5 and 29.2

Some good bets were landed at the track and lots of punters have started to respect the powerful combination of Champion trainer (Ali Khouiss) and Champion driver (Joshua Willick).

Perfect Day ends a Perfect Night

Perfect Day stood up and displayed what we have all known for sometime, that he possesses a brilliant turn of foot, when he destroyed a top field at Newcastle Paceway last night. On the spacious Newcastle circuit, driver Joshua Willick found the lead and simply let the bay gelding loose, recording a sizzling time of 1.58.6 for the mile, with the last half in 56.1.

In a display that had the race caller in rapture, Perfect Day just continued to increase the distance over his rivals with each step he took. It’s little wonder the enthralled crowd were stunned into silence, for rarely has such a demoralizing defeat been handed out to good opposition.

Ali certainly has some planning to do with this bright customer, now that he has displayed for all the critics his full potential. It will be interesting to see if the horse can continue to reproduce such a fine effort on a regular basis.

Glasscutters Atom Earns tilt at Harold Park

With recent form 2821, GLASSCUTTERS ATOM has earned the right to take on better class horses at Harold Park this Friday night (Friday 13th, we are not superstitious). Drawn ideally in barrier 3 over the sprint 1760 metres and to driven by Joshua Willick who has returned back to racing making every post a winner. We are hoping that the most consistent horse in the Khouiss Racing Stables, combined with the outstanding talents of champion reinsman Joshua Willick and a very suitable barrier, will make 'Black Friday' a great Friday for us.

Then on Monday at Bankstown we have two of our rising stars going around in Franco Enrico and Cairn Eddie Go, both drawn barrier 3, both to be driven by Joshua Willick. These horses are more than capable of winning their respective races and we are hoping to continue on our winning way, so make sure you have something on the tote on each of our starters, because we are always trying!

Glasscutters Atom finishes Easter a Winner

5 Year old Bay Gelding, GLASSCUTTERS ATOM (SOKYS ATOM USA - JIFFYS MISS NZ) gave supporters and friends of the Khouiss Racing Stables a wonderful finish to the Easter break by resisting numerous attacks to lead all the way and withstand a vigorous challenge in the home straight to win pulling away on the line.

Ali complimented the drive of J B Willick after the race saying that the horse responds to the driving style that Ali instructed Josh Willick to do and it paid huge dividends when the former champion driver, resuming after semi retirement, did exactly what was required.

Paying the delightful tote odds of $ 11.90 there were many smiles by the large support group in attendance. Ali has had a very good opinion of Glasscutters Atom for sometime telling me often that the horse can win from in front, with a sit or coming from well back, he is a very versatile horse and we have not seen the best of him yet, Ali stated. Running a sensational last half of 58.9 (29.9, 29.0), the horse responded to several challenges throughout the race and show great determination and high speed to actually pull away near the line. Ali was undecided as to what to do next with the bay Gelding, but will look for a suitable race probably back at Bankstown or perhaps Harold Park.

Easter Monday at Bankstown

Nothing to do on Monday night, head to Bankstown Paceway and support the Khouiss Racing Stables runners. You can expect all three horses to go very well, especially seeing two of them have very nice draws.

Monday, 9-Apr-2007 Bankstown Race 1 at 6:52 PM, Barrier 3. CAIRN EDDIE GO NZ
Monday, 9-Apr-2007 Bankstown Race 2 at 7:20 PM, Barrier 9. FLAK JACKET NZ
Monday, 9-Apr-2007 Bankstown Race 7 at 9:40 PM, Barrier 3. GLASSCUTTERS ATOM

So close at Bankstown

Cairn Eddie Go and Glasscutters Atom were both super unlucky not to win their respective races at Bankstown Paceway yesterday. Both horses had drawn the extreme outside of the second row and had every other horse better drawn than them before either event was run, however both races unfolded in a similar way, and both horses made unbelievable finishing runs in sizzling times, to finish inches behind the winners. Follow these two horses because with any sort of decent draw over the next few weeks, they will be winning for sure.

CAIRN EDDIE GO - SURE CAN !!!

Cairn Eddie Go saluted again at Bankstown at amazingly good tote odds of $5.00. The Regal Sulkies Pace was over 2,140 metres on Monday at our favorite track of Bankstown. Driven by James Ponsonby the 6 year old bay gelding continues to thrive and never puts in a bad race.

Cairn Eddie Go will race again next Monday at Bankstown, in race 5, drawn barrier 10 over 2140 metres, Joshua Willick will take the drive this time. On the same program, in race 7 Glasscutters Atom will be going around over 1740 metres from barrier 10. Joshua Willick will also drive 'The Atom', look for a good showing despite the second row draw.

6 Horse Attack Next Monday

Monday, 19-Mar-2007 Bankstown Race 4 at 2:55 PM 7. PERFECT DAY NZ
Monday, 19-Mar-2007 Bankstown Race 5 at 3:30 PM 9. CAIRN EDDIE GO NZ
Monday, 19-Mar-2007 Bankstown Race 6 at 4:05 PM 1. LIVE ACTION NZ
Monday, 19-Mar-2007 Bankstown Race 6 at 4:05 PM 10. DEWEY BALFA NZ
Monday, 19-Mar-2007 Bankstown Race 7 at 4:45 PM 2. ONE LAST HAND NZ
Monday, 19-Mar-2007 Bankstown Race 7 at 4:45 PM 7. GULL NZ

Our most recent result featured Cairn Eddie Go, who went within a whisker of winning the Ned Feehely Memorial Classic. In what has honestly been described as the greatest two horse war ever seen at the Bankstown Paceway, 'Eddie' and eventual winner House Master who won by the shortest possible margin, thrilled the capacity crowd and the race will long be remembered.

Hailed as a training triumph for Ali Khouiss regardless of finishing second, Cairn Eddie Go who has traveled and competed at the highest level in four states over the last four months, is a testament to the advanced training techniques that Ali has perfected. Few horses could have stayed up this long and continue to thrive but 'Eddie' will go around again next Monday and as always, will be ultra competitive!

Go DEWEY

An unbelievable day yesterday at Bankstown, in Race 4 Gull was beaten into a most unlucky second place beaten only 6 metres, and in the same race One Last Hand was knocked rotten (stick with OLH, he is not far off winning this Friday night at Harold Park). The following race, Cairn Eddie Go also ran second beaten 7 metres by a very good horse in Franco Extreme.

The following race Dewey Balfa unleash an awesome finish down the outside to win running away from them and paying around $20.00, we hope you all had some of that, and Dewey has now earned his way into the Schweppes Cup final and given the right draw and right run, can easily this very important race. I’ll give you an update on how Dewey is doing as we get closer to the final.

Glasscutters Atom, one of the most consistent horses racing in NSW will go around at Harold Park this Friday and might need the run but will be doing his best.

FULL ATTACK ON BANKSTOWN

Back to home base after months of traveling around the southern states of Australia (including Tasmania), fully rested and 100% focused, look for a big day from the Khouiss Racing Stables. Ali told me that he enjoyed the travel, it was a great learning curve, and the success of Our Braham Boy at the highest level, which could have been so much different with just a little luck at critical stages, was the highlight.

But now we are back home, this is our turf, and watch out, we are going to be shooting to retain the premiership which Ali currently holds for the Bankstown track. It’s full steam ahead and if we get our fair share of luck in running and barrier draws, the winners should start to roll in from this Monday onwards!

Dewey Balfa has an excused.

Pretty poor weekend of results, at Harold Park on Friday and Newcastle on Saturday. Dewey Balfa has an excused as he was taken to the fence by the driver, which was a silly tactic, and caught a wheel and that was the end of him. Both One Last Hand (3rd Place 5 metres) and Glasscutters Atom (4th Place 8 metres) picked up minor cheques in their respective races. Both raced without luck and will be better and fitter for the experience.

February to kick off with a bang!

Friday night at Harold Park, Race 5, Number 11, Gull over 1760 metres at 9.00pm, we will need a lot of luck from this draw. Saturday night 3rd February will be a different matter where we are hoping for a winning treble, with the following horses:

Newcastle race 2, Number 9, Dewey Balfa, Nathan Wilson, 2030 metres
Newcastle race 4, Number 1, One Last Hand, 1609 metres
Newcastle race 6, Number 7, Glasscutters Atom, Nathan Wilson, 2030 metres.

All three horses are in rock hard condition and will go very well on the spacious Newcastle track, make sure you have a little something eachway on all of them.
